Based on Ken Kesey's influential novel, the film follows the rebellious R.P. McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) who pretends to be insane in order to escape forced labour, but within the walls of a mental institution enters into a new, much more fundamental confrontation.

There, his indomitable lust for life clashes with the cold, oppressive regime of Sister Ratched, chillingly portrayed by Louise Fletcher. What begins as a provocation grows into a collective cry for dignity, freedom and humanity-a silent revolt within a closed system.

This classic from director Miloš Forman (Amadeus) became a cornerstone of 1970s American cinema, winning the five major Oscars: Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenplay. This November, this classic returns to cinemas in a brand new 4K restoration to mark its 50th anniversary.
