Archaeology Day

The polder is young, but its history is old. On Saturday 14 June 2025, dive into Almere's surprising past during Almeerse Archeologie. Discover what this area looked like in prehistoric times, learn about seafarers in the 17th century and experience daily life in the past through real archaeological finds.

Spread across several locations in Almere, you can take part in workshops, exhibitions and activities for young and old. Visit a real excavation in Oosterwold, go back to the Stone Age at VINDplaats Zenit, discover mammoths and the VOC at Natuurbelevingcentrum de Oostvaarders, and let children build huts at Smullen en Spelen.
