After his success with the Brockes Passion, Telemann wrote a passion of his own: Seliges Erwägen. Since he was composer, writer as well as poet, he wrote both the music and the text. The passion highlights nine stages of the Passion, from the last supper to the entombment. Although the music places high demands on singers and instrumentalists, the Apollo Ensemble, dedicated to making music from five centuries sound as if we were hearing it for the first time, manages to touch the heart immediately. The rich instrumental line-up gives each part its own colour.

The Apollo Ensemble

The Apollo Ensemble is an international company whose musicians come from all over the world. Artistic director David Rabinovich has more than earned his international spurs and has been a prominent member of Ton Koopman Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra for 25 years. The Apollo Ensemble is captivated by the wonder that centuries-old music can sound like new every time. What matters is the interaction the musicians experience with the audience.
