50 things you must have done
Collage and Stad & Natuur have created a poster with 50 must-do activities in Almere. The poster was festively unveiled on 15 January at 9am at De Ark in Almere Haven. The poster is now available so you can tick off your bucket list of all the activities throughout the year. Read Stad en Natuur's press release below.
Pupils De Ark receive first '50 things to do in Almere' poster
On the occasion of Almere's 50th anniversary, all primary schools in Almere will receive the poster 50 things to do in Almere in January. This large city map shows fifty inspiring places and activities for pupils to discover the nature and culture of their own city. On Thursday 15 January, pupils from De Ark Primary School were the first to receive the map. Together with mayor Hein van der Loo, pupils Adriana (group 6) and Benjamin (group 7) unveiled the map. The Ark was not chosen by chance, as this school also celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and is the oldest existing primary school in Almere.
On the road with students
The map shows how rich Almere is in creative and green activities and invites schools to get out and about with their pupils. The activities tie in with themes such as sustainability, heritage, imagination and doing things together. Almere has a lot to offer in these areas, often close to school and often for free. For instance, pupils from grades 1 to 8 can go for a walk in the Oostvaardersplassen reserve with school or their parents, look at art in KAF, spot street art in Almere Buiten or make nettle soup in the Vroege Vogelbos. The mayor asked Adriana and Benjamin which of the 50 activities they would most like to do. Adriana's favourite was to make a poem. And Benjamin chose making a talk about Almere, the city where he lives.
For all primary schools in Almere
The 50 Things in Almere map is an initiative of Collage Almere and Stad & Natuur Almere. This initiative is supported by the Municipality of Almere, the 50 Years of Almere fund and the Almeerse Wind cooperative. With this poster, the organisations want to show how special it is to grow up in a green, creative city that did not exist 50 years ago. In the coming weeks, the card will be distributed free of charge to all primary schools in Almere.
